What is Medicine?

• Medicine is something we take to help us feel better when we are sick, injured, or dealing with a health problem. It can come in many forms:
  Pills or tablets.
  Liquids or syrups.
  creams or ointments.
  Inhalers or injections.

What Is Medicine Good for?

• Medicine helps:
  Treat sickness like the flu or infections.
  Reduce pain or fever.
  Manage long-term conditions like asthma or diabetes.
  Prevent sickness (e.g vaccines).

What Happens If You Overuse or Misuse Medicine

• Taking too much medicine or using it the wrong way can be very dangerous and here's what happens:
  Taking more than prescribed: Overdose, organ damege like liver or kidney failure, even death.
  Sharing medicine: Wrong treatment will cause you allergic reactions.
  Using medicine without adult supervision: Accidental poisonong.
  Stopping too early: The illness comes back or gets worse.
  Mixing medicine without checking: Harmful drug interactions.

​MEDICINE SAFETY TIPS

• ​Always read the label and follow directions

• Take the correct dose, at the right time.

• Only take medicine that is prescribed for you.

• Store medicine out of reach of children and pets.

• Check expiration dates. Old medicine can be unsafe.

• Talk to a doctor or a pharmacist before taking any medicine.

• For adults: Never call medicine candy it can get children confused.
