Discovering Appledore
Appledore is a small and pretty village in North Devon, England. It is near the place where two rivers, the Taw and the Torridge, meet. The village has a long history of fishing and building ships. These things are still important for the people who live there.
There is a museum in Appledore called the North Devon Maritime Museum. It shows the village’s history with the sea. You can learn about Viking attacks and what happened there during World War II.
Appledore is also known for its small houses with pastel (light) colours and its narrow streets. In summer, you can take a short boat ride to the village of Instow. On the boat, you can see the river and the beautiful area around it.
Many people, both local and visitors, like to come to Appledore. There are nice cafés, art galleries, and special events like the yearly regatta. This event celebrates the village’s sea traditions.
