Background & History of Frisbee

  • 1940s – College students play by tossing empty pie tins from the Frisbie Pie Company.

  • 1957 – Toy company Wham-O produces the first plastic flying disc called the Frisbee.

  • Late 1960s – Ultimate Frisbee is invented by students as a team sport.

  • 1960s (same era) – Disc Golf emerges as a competitive disc sport.

  • Today– Frisbee is played worldwide, both recreationally and competitively.

Rules simplified

  • No running with the disc – You must pass it to move forward.

  • Score in the end zone – Catch the disc in the other team’s end zone to earn a point.
