Syllabus

Materials

Students are expected to bring appropriate materials to each class.
Those materials include school issued Chromebook, paper and pencil.
Curriculum resources are mostly Digital. 
Personal electronic devices will not be used in the classroom.

Classroom Rules:

District policies are followed as outlined in the school-wide Student Code of Conduct.

Rules are based on a foundation of Respect & Accountability. Academic

Honesty/Integrity is important to student learning. Any violation of Academic Honesty

including using another person's work and/or using “solving” websites or software will

be handled as stated in the student handbook pg. 13-15.  First offense will result in a maximum 

score of 2.5 being possible. 

No food allowed in the classroom without permission.  All Drinks must have a lid-No Cans.

Grading:

We follow the Bluestem Grading Policy.
It is a Standards based grading policy with a Level 0 through 4 Performance indicator.
Everything we do in class will not go in the gradebook. 

​0 to 4 Point Scale with Performance Indicators

Level 4.0	Advanced/Distinguished: Student demonstrates knowledge which exceeds grade level standards.
Level 3.5	Student demonstrates some understanding beyond grade level standards.
Level 3.0	Proficient/Mastery: Student demonstrates mastery on grade level standards. This is the target/goal for student success and should be celebrated.
Level 2.5	Student demonstrates partial success on grade level standards.
Level 2.0	Approaching: Student demonstrates basic understanding and is partially proficient at meeting grade level standards.
Level 1.5	Student demonstrates partial success on foundational skills or major errors on grade level standards.
Level 1.0	Developing/Emerging: With help, student demonstrates some understanding of foundational skills and grade level standards.
Level 0.5	With help, student demonstrates some understanding of basic skills.
Level 0	Even with help, student is not successful or no evidence is shown.

Conversion to Letter Grades

3.00 - 4.00 → A

2.50 - 2.99 → B

2.00 - 2.49 → C

1.01 - 1.99 → D

0.00 - 1.00 → F

Re-Assessment:

Students are allowed to retake assessments on which they performed below their level of mastery (excluding the Final, District and State Assessments).
In order to be eligible to schedule a redo/retake time with a student must complete the following tasks:

Ensure all assignments for that study unit are complete

Meet with the teacher to establish criteria to complete the redo/retake

Technology:

Chromebook’s will be issued to the students and used in the classroom daily for educational purposes.
Our class will use multiple technology resources.
Please make sure your Chromebook is fully charged and prepared for class.

Personal electronic devices will not be allowed during classroom time.
Students may  leave their devices in their locker or place them in the phone holder located toward the back of the room, at the beginning  of class.

1st Offense 

• The staff takes the electronic device and turns it into the Student Support Center (SSC) for the remainder of the school day. Staff will write an Office Discipline Referral for the student. 

2nd Offense 

• The electronic device will be placed in the SSC for the remainder of the school day, plus a 30-minute detention. Staff will write an ODR for the student. The student’s admin will make home contact. 

3rd Offense  

• The device is placed in the SSC for the remainder of the day, a 30-minute detention, parents must pick up the device from school during school hours.  Staff will write an ODR for the student. The student’s admin will make home contact.

4th Offense 

• The device is placed in the SSC for the remainder of the day, In-School Suspension, parents must pick up the device from school during school hours. Staff will write an ODR for the student. The student’s admin will make home contact.
