What is a sentence?

A sentence is a group of words that shows a complete thought.
(a subject and a verb)

Examples:

Lynn went to the grocery store.

The dog was barking at the cars driving by.

What should all sentences have?

All sentences should include....

  • a capital letter

  • a subject (noun)

  • a verb (action)

What is a fragment?

A fragment is a group of words that does NOT show a complete though.

Fragments are either missing the subject or verb.

Examples:

washed the dishes

My friends at school
