The Case holds and organizes all major components as well as providing protection from damage

Computer Case

The main hub for all computer components.
The Motherboard connects all components together to allow them to send information back and forth.

Computer Processing Unit
The CPU is part of the Brain of the system. It handles all of the major calculations and tells each of the other components what to do.

CPU

The hard drive is the part of the computer's brain that stores information. There are 2 main types.

SSD-Solid State Drive
SSD has no moving parts and stores information on a chip.
HDD-Hard Disc Drive
HDD uses a laser to read and write data from/to a physical disc.

Harddrive

Graphical Processing Unit
Processes all graphical information and converts it to images for the Monitor.

GPU

Random Access Memory
is the computers short term memory. Temporary information is loaded into the RAM whenever a program is used. Once that program is closed, the RAM forgets all the temporary information it was holding.

Ram

Power Supply Unit
Supplies power to all components of the computer.

PSU

The Network Card
allows for wireless access to the internet and local networks.

The Sound Card
Processes all sound information and converts it to an audio signal that is then sent to the speakers.

The Optical Drive uses a laser to read information that has been engraved on a disk, and then send that information to the CPU.

The monitor is a peripheral device used to few digital information provided by the computer.

The keyboard and mouse are peripheral devices that are used to input data into the computer.

The printer is a peripheral device that allows for data from the computer to be recreated on paper.

Speakers and Headphones are peripheral devices used for outputting sound from the computer.
Microphones are peripheral devices used to input sound into the computer.
