It started off as such a nice day. What happened after: Events that left a lasting impact on our nation

​-This all got started around 8:00 am on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001.
-It was one of those beautiful days outside, where no one would think that anything bad would happen.

Can anyone name the THREE places that the attacks happened??

The attack occurred in THREE different places.

  • New York City: Twin Towers (World Trade Center)

  • Washington D.C.: Pentagon

  • Shanksville, PA: Flight 93

The fourth plane was most likely due to hit another target in Washington D.C.

All of the planes took off between 7:59 am and 8:45 am.

Let's talk about Flight 93

-Flight 93 was also hijacked but it did not reach its target. (Fourth Plane).
-The passengers heard about the other attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center and decided to try to overtake the hijackers.
-They got close to breaching the cockpit when the hijackers crashed the plane into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

-If you selected, C, you are correct! We ended up declaring war on Afghanistan, a war and country we would be involved in...for almost 20 years, until August 31, 2021!!!

-That is a VERY long time. Should we have been involved in that war for a long time? Historians will always debate this. What do you all think?
