1. Important Emergency Numbers


In South Korea, you can call without adding an area code (just dial directly):

  • 112 → Police (if you are in danger, see a crime, or need protection)

  • 119 → Firefighters & Ambulance (if there is a fire, someone is injured, or sick and needs urgent help)

​ 2. What to Do When You Call

When you call 112 (Police) or 119 (Firefighters/Ambulance):

  • Stay Calm – speak clearly and slowly.

  • Say the Emergency Type:

    • “Fire!”

    • “Help! Someone is hurt!”

    • “I’m in danger!”

Give Your Location:
Say your address, landmark, or nearby building.

  1. Example: “I am at Seoul Station” or “Near Gangnam Station Exit 5.”

  2. Say What Happened:

    • Fire: “There is a fire in the apartment.”

    • Ambulance: “A person is unconscious.”

    • Police: “Someone is trying to hurt me.”

  3. Follow Instructions – The operator may ask more questions.

  • Police: “112, what is your emergency?”

  • Daniel: “Someone stole my bag.”

  • Police: “Where are you now? What do you see around you?”

  • Daniel: “I’m in Myeongdong, near a big clothing store.”

2. Lost Child

  • Police: “Police, what happened?”

  • Dean: “I found a lost child.”

  • Police: “Where are you? Can you describe the place?”

  • Dean: “I’m at Lotte World, near the ticket gate.”
