​1. Important Emergency Numbers

​In South Korea, you can call without adding an area code (just dial directly):

• 112 → Police (if you are in danger, see a crime, or need protection)

• 119 → Firefighters & Ambulance (if there is a fire, someone is injured, or sick and needs urgent help)

​ 2. What to Do When You Call

When you call 112 (Police) or 119 (Firefighters/Ambulance):

• Stay Calm – speak clearly and slowly.

• Say the Emergency Type:
  

  • “Fire!”

  • “Help! Someone is hurt!”

  • “I’m in danger!”

​Give Your Location:
Say your address, landmark, or nearby building.

1. Example: “I am at Seoul Station” or “Near Gangnam Station Exit 5.”

2. Say What Happened:
   

   • Fire: “There is a fire in the apartment.”

   • Ambulance: “A person is unconscious.”

   • Police: “Someone is trying to hurt me.”

3. Follow Instructions – The operator may ask more questions.

1. Theft

• Police: “112, what is your emergency?”

• Daniel: “Someone stole my bag.”

• Police: “Where are you now? What do you see around you?”

• Daniel: “I’m in Myeongdong, near a big clothing store.”

2. Lost Child

• Police: “Police, what happened?”

• Dean: “I found a lost child.”

• Police: “Where are you? Can you describe the place?”

• Dean: “I’m at Lotte World, near the ticket gate.”

​3. Danger

• Police: “112, how can I help you?”

• Jenny: “A man is following me.”

• Police: “Where are you standing? What is nearby?”

• Jenny: “I’m near Hongdae Station Exit 3, next to a café.”

4. Accident Witness

• Police: “Police, what is the problem?”

• Zoey: “There was a car accident.”

• Police: “Where exactly are you? Do you see any signs or buildings?”

• Zoey: “On Gangnam-daero, near a coffee shop and a bus stop.”

5. Breathing Problem

• 119: “119, what is your emergency?”

• Jason: “My friend cannot breathe.”

• 119: “Where are you now? Look around you.”

• Jason: “At Seoul Station, Exit 1, near a bakery.”

6. Injury

• 119: “119, ambulance service. What happened?”

• David: “My classmate fell and hurt his leg.”

• 119: “Where are you? What is nearby?”

• David: “We are in the school gym, next to the basketball court.”

• 119: “119, what is your location?”

• Juny: “A person fainted.”

• 119: “Can you describe where you are standing?”

• Juny: “At Busan beach, near the lifeguard tower.”

8. House Fire

• 119: “119, what is your emergency?”

• Ian: “There is a fire in my apartment.”

• 119: “Where is your building? What do you see nearby?”

• Ian: “45 Mapo-gu, Seoul, near a convenience store.”

9. School Fire

• 119: “119, where is the fire?”

• Lucas: “There is smoke in the science lab.”

• 119: “Which school and which floor is it?”

• Lucas: “Maple International School, second floor, next to the library.”

• 119: “119, how can we help you?”

• Oliver: “There is a fire in a trash can.”

• 119: “Where are you now? Can you name a landmark?”

• Oliver: “In Daegu Park, near the fountain and playground.”
