Jada stared at the empty basketball court after practice. She had stayed late, even though the rest of the team rushed home. Tomorrow was the championship game, and she wanted to be ready. The coach had reminded her that she wasn’t the fastest player, but she was one of the smartest on the team. Jada replayed the coach’s words in her head as she practiced free throws. The squeak of her sneakers echoed, but she didn’t stop until she made ten shots in a row.
