How many jobs does the letter -e have?

You know the rules of the C-le spelling pattern:

• C-le comes at the end of a syllable.

• A consonant is before -le.

• In a closed syllable, the consonant is doubled.

• The e at the end is silent.

1. ​Find and mark the vowels and consonants. Remember to keep consonant blends and digraphs together.

2. Find the final e at the end of the syllable and count back three.

3. Circle the C-le pattern, and divide the word before the C-le spelling pattern.

4. Blend the syllables together to read the whole word.
