The Battle of Yorktown, sometimes known as the Siege of Yorktown, was the final major battle of the Revolutionary War. This battle, led by Alexander Hamilton and George Washington, ended the fighting for American Independence on Oct. 19, 1781.

Recap of the Battle:

​Here we see George Washington and Alexander Hamilton as the British surrender to the Americans.

​The Battle of Yorktown lasted 11 days until British Gen. Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington. Cornwallis was so ashamed he didn't even attend the surrender!

The Battle of Yorktown took place in Virginia, and is often considered the most important battle of the Revolutionary War.
This massive win by the Americans "turned the world upside down" because it was an unbelievable win.
