Read Chapters 22-23 of Hittite Warrior
Assigned Reading:
Hittite Warrior The Canaanites assembled in the Plain of Esdraelon, with the top of Mount Tabor rising in the distance ahead of them. As they set up their camp, they saw the Hebrews' fires along the slopes and heard faint sounds of their songs to God. That night, Uriah was awakened by Hannibaal who explained the shame and condemnation he and his family had endured because of what had happened to Jabin. He admitted to Uriah that he was afraid and had joined the army to atone for the sins of Jotham and Uriah. He said Ethbaal was dying because he was so distressed. Hannibaal then told Uriah that he would die in this battle, but if Uriah lived, he must promise him that he would go to Tyre and protect Mehitabel. Uriah promised, and Hannibaal fell asleep, his mind at ease. The next morning, the Hebrews attacked. The Canaanites were successful at first, but then their chariot wheels got stuck in the ruts in the ground. Trying to save a fellow soldier, Uriah jumped off of Labarnash and the horse was killed. The Hebrews continued to drive back the Canaanites, who fled. When Uriah reached the Kishon River, Ahmoses was able to help Uriah stay alive and the two made it to the other side safely. Ahmoses told him that they must walk west toward the seaport of Dor to find food. When the two arrived in Dor, they walked the streets until a kind man named Elhanan offered them his home. Uriah knew he must keep his promise to Hannibaal and travel to Tyre. Elhanan told them that a ship would be leaving for Tyre in a few weeks, and he could make sure they had safe passage. Just before they were to leave, news spread through the town that the Egyptians were moving out after four hundred years of occupation because the sea people were invading.
