Read Chapters 24-28 of Hittite Warrior
Assigned Reading:
Hittite Warrior Before Uriah and Ahmoses boarded the ship, Elhanan warned them not to say anything about being part of the army of Sisera, because the owner of the ship called himself a Hebrew when it profited him. When Uriah met the owner, Joash ben Omri, he concluded that he was Jotham's uncle that had stolen his birthright. As Uriah watched the city of Tyre from out at sea, the ship master called them to the owner's cabin. Even though he had originally promised Elhanan that they could ride for free, Joash told them that they must pay the price of their voyage or they would be his slaves. Uriah could only think of asking Ethbaal to pay his ransom, but when one of Ethbaal's servants came onto the ship with the ransom money for Uriah, he knew he could not leave Ahmoses to be a slave since he had saved his life. Uriah took a gamble and exposed Joash's misdeeds in front of others. His gamble succeeded, and Uriah not only convinced Joash to allow Ahmoses to go free, but to pay Ethbaal for taking care of Jotham all those years after Joash had stolen his birthright. As Reuel, Uriah and Ahmoses walked toward Ethbaal's house, Reuel informed Uriah that Merris's paid the ransom for Uriah. Before Uriah could ask any questions, they were taken inside the house. Uriah soon discovered that Achil, the Philistine, was now the master of the house because he was planning to marry Mehitabel. Achil informed a stunned Uriah that he and his friend must leave the house by the time he returned that evening. Uriah went to Merris's chamber to speak with her.
