​Reading:

 Political science is a social science which is related to other social sciences of anthropology, history, sociology, economics and psychology. It can be argued that political science is the Cornerstone of all these other disciplines. This is because all the activities that occur within these other disciplines are governed to some degree by the political environment in which they occur. An alternative point of view could be that political science is a study of political situations that arise from factors that are more closely linked to other social sciences. Whatever the viewpoint of the importance of political science within the social sciences, it is clear that all of these disciplines interact and the nature of that interaction has changed throughout history.

 the idea that politics should be approached scientifically developed primarily in the 20th century. Basically, political scientists used the statistical methods developed by social scientists and applied them to politics. Using these methods, political scientists try to explain where political power comes from in a society, and how it is used.

Yet, politics is in many ways beyond the reach of true scientific investigation. The scientific method contends that the same set of conditions will produce some outcomes. It is proven extremely difficult to make clear connections between political outcomes and the conditions from which they emerged.

This week we've been discussing marketing on social media. Many companies have invested in this strategy and found it successful. Others, however, have found that it is not bringing them the benefits their heart for. This is because such advertising is not just about putting up ads on every platform. It's more about targeting specific customers which isn't always easy. I'd like to learn how you use social media and how advertising influences you. What ads seem to be most and least effective do you think companies should invest more on social media marketing or stay with traditional forms of advertising?

I find that most hands on social media are simply annoying. they seem to get in the way of other content that I'm more interested in. To me, such advertising seems like a waste of money. I think that traditional ads that target specific audiences would be far more cost-effective. Putting money into good ads in magazines that are written for a specific type of person is the best investment.

 I think Anna makes a good point. You really have to know which kind of customer you want to target. It may be that social media doesn't really target one type of person so the ads companies put there are not effective, however people are spending much more time on social media than they were in the past, and so much advertising cannot be ignored in any marketing plan. I think with careful research, social media marketing can be very effective.
