European nations wanted all the possible wealth in the world! The New World (North America, our home) was untouched by the rest of the world and filled with riches!

All of the European nations, mainly England, Spain, and France, were competing for who could be the strongest. North America was super important to take the lead!

North America was filled with untapped supplies for the Europeans to take. The supplies in North America were FAR GREATER here than in Europe.

How did the English even settle N. America?
Well, the English would be among the top three strongest nations at the time during the Age of Exploration. Because of this they found a great spot to establish their first colony, Virginia, which led to them eventually creating the thirteen colonies. Those thirteen colonies would then also go on to become the United States of America!
How could they pay for such a trip!?
A little thing called the Virginia Company of London paid for the whole thing - ever heard of them?

Was Colonization Easy?
The fight for N. America was hard, but worth it.
Fighting for land and the colonization of it was extremely tough. Many people lost their lives in hopes for a better life here in North America, but without their hard work and sacrifice we might not be here today. The European nations fought hard for their slice of the pie that is N. America, but eventually things would start to unravel... and revolution starts!
