A comet is really coming. The government is useless, media cares only about trends, and corporations want profit.

Create a realistic plan to save the planet

  • What do scientists do?

  • What does the public need to know?

  • How to fight misinformation?

  • How to gain international cooperation?

Each has an aspect to work on. Think of the ideas and present them to the class. Each person will have to ask at least 1 question to you.

Choose the alternative ending. One person starts with a sentence. Another person continues with "And then..." and adds one more spect. Third person does the same.

Give your opinion on a topic. Depending on your answer, divide into pairs. Discuss the topic giving your opinion. Asking questions is encouraged!

·       Is the public responsible for ignoring science, or is it the government’s fault?

·       Is satire an effective tool for addressing real-life crises?

·       Which group was portrayed most accurately: scientists, politicians, corporations, or regular people?

·       Is it ethical to tell the public the full truth during a crisis, even if it causes mass panic?

·       Was President Orlean wrong, or was she simply following the logic of modern politics?

·       Should news shows prioritize entertainment or truth?

·       Is the movie too pessimistic about humanity?
