Safe Places to Play

Safe places are spots where grown-ups know we are, and where there aren’t things that can hurt us.

  • Playground – soft ground, swings, slides

  • Backyard – when a grown-up is watching

  • Park – an open space made for playing

  • Inside your home or classroom – with toys and clean areas

  • Gym or playroom – made just for running and jumping safely

  • They are made for children.

  • A grown-up can watch and help if needed.

  • The ground and equipment are designed to keep us from getting hurt.

Dangerous Places We Should NOT Play

These are places where accidents can happen or where we could get lost or hurt.

  • Street or parking lot – cars might not see you

  • Kitchens – hot stoves, sharp things

  • Bathrooms – slippery floors

  • Near water without a grown-up – pools, lakes, ponds

  • Construction sites – heavy tools and things that can fall

  • Near electrical outlets or cords

  • Behind cars or near driveways

Why these places aren’t safe:

  • Cars move fast and can’t always stop in time.

  • Tools, hot things, or slippery floors can cause injuries.

  • Water is dangerous if a grown-up isn’t right there.

  • You could get hurt, shocked, burned, or lost.
