There's a reason the British Colonies stopped where they are - they couldn't get past the Appalachian Mountains!

The Appalachian Mountains formed a natural border for the British. The French settled everywhere west of the Appalachian Mountains because they came down from the north!

The British colonies would go on to become the United States of America (USA), and geography played a huge role in this happening!
The British struggled to maintain control from so far away, and the American colonists hated being controlled from so far away, too!

Geography During Revolution
During the Revolutionary War, Valley Forge in Pennsylvania served as a large military camp that helped train soldiers.
Here, George Washington trained his soldiers that would go on to win the Revolutionary War!
Today, Valley Forge is a national park!
