3rd grade: Cause and Effect

What's the effect ?
 Paul overslept. 

• He was late for school.
• He was very hungry.
• His dog kept barking.
• His parents bought a new car.

All of the cows ran out of the pen!
What was the cause?

• A truck came speeding by.
• The farmer milked his cows.
• The gate was open.
• A dish fell off the table.

What was the effect?
Dark clouds appeared in the sky.

• Rain began to pour down from the sky.
• A chilly wind was blowing.
• A cow began to moo loudly.
• I got a headache.

When I woke up, I found that a beautiful, cold blanket of white covered my yard.
What was the cause?

• It rained last night!
• A  giant chef sneezed flour over my neighborhood!
• It must have snowed while I slept.
• The trees were frosty white too.

What are possible causes for not doing your homework?

• You earn a 100% on a test.
• You left your bookbag and notebook at school.
• You are in trouble with your teacher!
• You are sitting out of recess doing your missed work.
