Context Clues

Context clues are:

• Clues in a text that you only find once. 
• Clues in a text to help you. 
• Blue's Clues. 
• Clues in a text that help you figure out what a word means. 

I can remember the meaning of an unknown word by: 

• Reciting the vocabulary list until I memorize it. 
• Phoning a friend. 
• Using words I know to help me. 
• Reading past words I don't understand. 

Two ways to use context clues for figuring the definition of new words:

• Synonyms & Contrasting words
• Antonyms & magnifying glasses
• Dictionaries & My buddy Fred
• Vocabulary words & examples
