• Verbs that add action .eg.running, jumping, catching.
• words that describe the taste, smell or sounds
• exaggerating language for effect . eg. Her heart felt like it would burst!
• Verbs like ' crept' , 'devoured', 'gripped' that have impact on mood and atmosphere

A Metaphor is:

• something that is said to be like something else . ie The sky was as black as charcoal
• something that symbolises something else and is said to be something else . eg. The volcano sky heralded the dawn
• words that suggest something bad is going to happen

Sensory language is:

• words that make you feel or sense something too.
• words that appeal to your senses
• words that use the senses to bring a situation to life 
• language that makes sense

• When something is  truly horrific   happens
