Definition of Rise of Big Business

• corrupt groups in cities that forced people to vote for a particular candidate or legislation 
• 1820 to 1920 social activism and goverment one of the goals was to eliminate corruption in government and business
• initially the US did very well little to regulate big business which continued to get larger at the expense of the farmers and small business
• new machines and technology helped businesses grow. Large companies bought up small companies to eliminate competition which caused a hard lite for those who worked in the factories
