Presidential Roles

As Commander-In-Chief, the President:

• is a Supreme Court judge.
• appoints members of Congress.
• is in charge of the armed forces.
• enforces laws.

As Chief Executive, the President:

• leads executive branch by enforcing laws & supervising the affairs of the nation.
• enforces law by serving as a secret service agent.
• serves as a federal judge.
• appoints members of the Senate.

As chief agenda setter, the President:

• is impeached.
• is in charge of the armed forces.
• voices his opinion/ideas on what laws should be passed. (vetoes or signs laws)
• declares war.

As Chief of State, the President:

• represents the country at public events, ceremonies, & receptions. 
• is not a public figure. 
• selects members of the CIA.
• appoints governors for each state.

As foreign policy leader, the President:

• appoints members of his Cabinet.
• selects members of the Senate.
• is able to retreat to Camp David to escape and relax.
• decides how the U.S. interacts w/ other countries by making treaties or meeting with leaders from other countries, etc.

As party leader, the President:

• leads his political party by doing things such as campaigning for members of his party or helping members of his party get elected to office.
• throwing parties at the White House for members of the Legislative & Judicial branches.
• decides who gets to serve on the House of Representatives.
• has to decide who his secret service members will be.
