How to find a book in the library using Encore

• Ask the security guard

• Use the Encore catalogue

Encore is the library catalog. It can be found on the IAT page. Go to www.iat.ac.ae. Select My IAT and in the dropdown menu select Sierra Library Catalog. The catalog will open in a new browser. 
Question:  Where will you find Encore?

• www.wiki.org ->My IAT ->Encore
• www.iat.ac.ae -> My IAT -> Sierra Library catalogue

Select the Catalog tab (the tab in the middle).
You need books for your "Electricity assignment". Type in the keyword, "Electricity" in the search space and click on the arrow.

• You go to the Articles tab in the Encore catalog. 
• You type in the keywords "SAT Chemistry test" in the search bar

In the Advance search option one can combine keyword with boolean operators: AND  NOT  OR
One can select Type of material, Location, Language and set date limiters, e.g 2000 - 2017. One can also limit it by ticking the boxes for Full text and Peer Reviewed. Expanders which can be ticked: Apply related words, Apply equivalent subjects and Also search within the full text of the articles

You can refine your search by setting Limiters in the column on the left. For example: limit your search to only Books by selecting it under the heading, Material Type. Or limit your search to Abu Dhabi Male LRC under the heading Location. You can select multiple limiters per search.
Question: You want to limit your search to Abu Dhabi Male LRC

• You go to the Location heading and select Abu Dhabi Male LRC
• You type in your keywords and put Abu Dhabi Male LRC in brackets
• You type Abu Dhabi Male LRC AND your keywords

You can click on See all to be able to see all the libraries with a specific book in their collection. The Status will indicate whether it is available or not.

One can click on the book title in Encore to open the book record.
To find the book in the library, the following 3 points are important|:
1.  Check the location e.g Abu Dhabi Male General Collection - This will tell you in which library and in which collection this book is, e.g General collection, Fiction, Reference collection, etc. 
2.  The call number is the shelf number. Write it down. This is the address of the book, with other words, where you will find it on the shelf, e.g. PN 123. 546 DAL23 2007. 
3.  Check the status. It will only be on the shelf it the status indicates AVAILABLE.
