Making Inferences

It was silent reading time.  Will was reading an exciting book about a wizard.  Will did not hear Mrs. Drennan say that silent reading time was over.  Why didn't Will hear Mrs. Drennan?

Marlena threw the flat stone toward the lake.  "One, two, three, four, five!" She called to her Mom, "That is a new record for me!"  Then she went to search for more flat stones.

Parker waded into the water.  He saw a pretty shell under the water and bent down to pick it up.  Suddenly a big wave came and pushed him over!  It as a little scary, but at least he got the shell!

Nikson could not believe his eyes.  It was even bigger than he ever imagined it could be.  He couldn't wait to see Mickey Mouse and ride the rides!

White flakes fell from the sky and covered the roads.  Lucy crawled out of bed and peeked out the window.  Her eyes lit up when she realized she definitely wouldn't have school today!
Why won't Lucy have school today?
