When using Google for research, what should you type?

How does Google decide which sources to send you when you make a search?

What is a search operator?

• Specific words or symbols used to help narrow search results.

The minus symbol (-)

• adds the word following the symbol to your search results.
• excludes or takes away the word following the symbol from your search results.
• gives the definition of the word following the symbol.

Use quotes around a phrase ("We the people") to search for websites where...

• those exact words inside the quotes appear in that exact order.
• those words are found in any order.
• those words are not found.

If you searched using the operator site:org your results would include...

• only sites that end in .edu
• only sites that end in .com
• only sites that end .org
• all sites
