Matter Review

Matter is 

• anything that fills up a box
• anything that takes up space and has mass
• not air
• anything that we can see

Properties of matter are

• characteristics that describe matter like size, shape, color, luster
• always something you can see
• where you find matter
• how you change matter

The three states of matter are

• wisconsin, illinois, florida
• atom, volume, luster
• solid, liquid, gas
• air, liquid, gas

In a liquid, the atoms 

• are close together and form a pattern and move slowly
• are nonexistant
• are loosely put together and move around a bit so they can flow from one container to another
• move rapidly

In a solid, the 

• atoms are close together in an organized pattern and do not move freely
• atoms are loose and flow from container to container
• are spread apart and move rapidly

In a gas, the

• atoms are close together in a pattern
• atoms are loosely put together and flow freely
• are spread far apart and move rapidly
