What is Argument writing?

• Writing that presents reasons and examples to influence action or thought in the reader; form of writing in which the writer uses words to convince the reader that the writer's opinion is correct in regards to an issue
• Purpose is to make the reader believe his or her position
• Writing that investigates a topic, collects, generates, and evaluates evidence; it establishes a position on the topic in a concise manner
• Purpose is used to make how to manuals, instructional books, teach the reader how to do something
