As Serafina watched him she realized his caring nature was genuine.

He didn't seem too upset about the way things were going.

He is no longer a suspect because he brought in outside detectives to solve the mystery of what is happening to the kids.

Why was Serafina afraid when Mr. Thorne offered to play the pipe organ?

She knew how loud it sounded when it was played in the basement and knew it would bust her eardrums for sure if she was hiding among the pipes.

She did not like the sound of the pipe organ when it was played.

She was afraid Mr. Thorne would look up and see her hiding among the pipes in the instrument.

She did not want to sit through another concert from Mr. Thorne.

Mr. Thorne seemed too pleased with being invited into Mr. Vanderbilt's inner circle.
