What tool can you use to eliminate answers that you know are not right?

• Highlighter tool
• Answer eliminator (it looks like an 'X')
• There is no such tool.
• Notepad

What is an essay?

• A few sentences.
• A paragraph
• More than one paragraph.
• Something my teachers use to torture me with.

What should I do if I see the word 'essay' during PARCC?

• Draw the 8 sentence graphic organizer we use in class and fill it in for my plan.
• Panic and maybe start crying.
• Start typing my thoughts right away.
• Write a couple of sentences to answer the question and call it good.

What if I don't understand the question?

• Panic and cry, maybe pretend I'm going to throw up.
• Raise my hand and ask the teacher.
• Take a breath, reread it a couple of times to try to get the idea.
• Give up.

What is point of view?

• A high place where you can see for a long ways.
• The exact spot where you are looking.
• My own opinion of the story.
• How the person who is telling the story changes how events are told.

How do I find evidence from the text to support my answers?

• Use binoculars to look for it.
• Copy down everything.
• Use the highlighter tool to find evidence in the text that answers the question.
• This is impossible.

What is a summary?

• When you restates the big idea and important details of the text.
• When you retell every single thing that you read.
• When you name all the characters and the setting.
• When you give your opinion of what happened in the text.

What is cause and effect?

• When you are asked to find a detail supporting the main idea.
• When you are asked to state your opinion about the text.
• When you are asked to find the reason that something happened.
• When you are asked to retell the story.

What are videos for on the PARCC?

• For fun - sit back, relax, and enjoy them!
• To let you know about something, but it doesn't have anything to do with the test.
• To distract you from the test.
• To give you information that you will need to answer the questions - so pay attention!
