Testing Vocabulary

The variable you measure to see if the independent variable has any effect. This changes in response to what you changed: Responding variable

Independent Variable

• a variable that is not changed.
•  a constant variable that is part of the experiment that is not being tested and is used for comparison. Also called control group.
• the variable responding to the independent variable. Written in the second part of the hypothesis ("then, ____"). Usually, a measurement or observation.
• the variable that changes in an experiment; what is being tested. Written in the first part of the hypothesis. "If ____"
