Long hair in the laboratory should always be

You have been injured during a lab (burned, cut, etc.). First you should

• Visit the school nurse
• Apply first aid yourself
• Go see a doctor after school
• Tell the teacher

When you finish working with chemicals, biological specimens, and other lab substances, always

• Wash your hands with soap and water
• Wipe your hands on a towel
• Treat your hands with lotion
• Wipe your hands on your clothes

If a fire erupts immediately,

• Grab the fire extinguisher
• Throw water on it
• Open the window

Approved eye protection devices (such as goggles) are worn in the laboratory

• To improve your vision
• To avoid eye strain
• Only if you don't wear corrective glasses
• Anytime chemicals, heat, or glassware are used

If you do not understand a direction or part of a laboratory procedure, you should

• Figure it out as you do the lab
