Read the original passage and then decide which answer choice below has cited the original correctly without plagiarizing

Original passage:

The Thorny Devil Drinks with its Skin.

"In the Australian Outback, pooled water can be extremely hard to come by. To deal with this issue, the thorny devil has developed skin that can absorb water like blotter paper (called “capillary action”). According to Schwartz, “the way the scales on the body are structured, it collects dew and channels it down to the corners of the mouth," where the lizard drinks it. You can actually watch the lizard’s skin darken as it soaks up whatever liquid remains from even the muckiest of puddles."

According to an article from the Mental Floss website, lizards' skin can soak up whatever liquids it comes in contact with (http://mentalfloss.com/article/57204/20-amazing-animal-adaptations-living-desert).

According to Mental Floss online magazine author Craig Baker, research indicates that an adaptation of desert lizards named, "Thorny Devils" can absorb water through their skin, similar to the way we see that paper absorbs water. Then the water travels along the channels on top of the skin towards the lizard's mouth where the lizard can actually swallow the liquid. This allows the lizards to take in water from any available source it comes in contact with, in order to help sustain its existence (Baker n.p.)

Mental Floss author Craig Baker states that certain desert lizards can drink with their skin. The skin acts like a paper towel absorbing the water and allowing it to flow towards the lizard's mouth (Mental Floss 2/24/18).

When it has been hot out, lizards have skin that absorbs water and then it travels towards its mouth (Mental Floss n.p.)

Read the original passage below and then choose the correct answer choice that summarizes and cites the original correctly without plagiarizing.

CHAMELEON BEHAVIOR

The Chameleon tends to be a timid type of lizard and they will retreat rather than fight when they can. They are often kept as pets due to their calm nature and the fact that they can amazingly change colors. However, they can be tough to care for because they need the right balance of food, heat, and places to climb in order to really thrive. They are believed to be a very intelligent species of lizard.

Chameleons can be a rewarding pet to keep. They change colors with their environment and are usually calm creatures. Owning one is challenging because it requires natural warmth, interesting and colorful terrain to climb over and under, and a steady diet of nutrients to live a long life (Chameleons 1).

Chameleons, while shy, can be a rewarding pet to keep. They change colors with their environment and are usually calm creatures. Owning one and keeping it alive and healthy is challenging because it requires a perfect balance of natural warmth, interesting and colorful terrain to climb over and under, and a steady diet of nutrients to live a long life in captivity (Chameleon Behavior, www.bioexpedition.com/chameleon/).

Read the original passage below and then decide which answer choice summarizes and cites the original passage correctly without plagiarizing:

IOC votes to uphold Russia Olympics ban, athletes won’t march under flag

The International Olympic Committee on Sunday decided not to lift its ban of Russia's Olympic team over doping allegations, meaning that the country will not be able to march in the closing ceremony under its own flag. The 170 Russian athletes won't get to parade in the white, blue and red of the Russian flag and be introduced as Team Russia. The athletes have been participating under the name Olympic Athletes from Russia. The athletes allowed in Pyeong Chang had to undergo rigorous testing to prove they were free of drugs and agreed to compete under the neutral team name, Olympic Athletes of Russia, or OAR. Russia's ability to regain its official Olympic status was in jeopardy after two confirmed cases of Russian athletes testing positive last week for banned substances. Russian curler, Alexander Krushelnitsky, 25, was stripped of the bronze medal he won last week, with his teammate and wife, Anastasia Bryzgalova, and Russian bobsled pilot Nadezhda Sergeeva, 30, tested positive for the banned stimulant trimetazidine, a heart medication.

Russian athletes did not regain their lost credibility after two more athletes were stripped of their medals last week when drug tests revealed banned substances in their blood. Russian officials had fought with the IOC to allow their athletes to walk in both the opening and closing ceremonies carrying the Russian flag, but after these incidents last week, the IOC refused to allow the athletes to carry the Russian flag in the closing ceremonies (NBC 2/25/18).
