How data is stored in CD/DVD disks (Choose two options):

• Red laser lights is used to read and write data

• stores data in parallel tracks

• Uses blue laser to read and write data

• Data is stored in ‘pits’ and ‘bumps’ on the spiral track

Difference between Blu-Ray and DVDs (Choose two options):

• Smaller ‘pits’ and ‘bumps’ bigger storage , 5 times than DVD

• DVD have smaller storage size compared to Blu-ray

• Blu-Rays are used for high definition sound track only

• Comes with a secure encryption system

Two advantages of Blu-Ray compared to CD/DVD disks:

• Very fast data transfer rate

• Cheaper

• doesn't requires special player

• Data access speed is greater than other optical media

Two disadvantages of Blu-Ray compared to CD/DVD disks:

• Relatively expensive

• Very slow data access times

• Read/write operations can be quite noisy

• Might have Encryption problems, leading to difficulties to access the data inside the disk

Two advantages of SSD:

• Data access is considerably faster than HDD

• Cheaper than HDD

• More reliable as there are not moving parts

• In applications where batch processing is used (e.g.: utility billing)

Two disadvantages of SSD:

• longevity, doesn't last long as HDD

• Very Expensive compared to HDD

• High power consumption

• Less reliable

Two other types of portable SSD's:

• Pendrive/thumbdrive

• Magnetic Strip Card

• flash memory Card

• RFID based cards

Two advantages of thumb-drives / pen drives:

• Cheaper than CD's and DVD's

• Doesn’t need additional software to work on most computer

• Portable and not affected by magnetic fields

• All types of thumb-drives / pen drives have larger storage capacity compared to Blu-ray disks

Two disadvantages of thumb-drives / pen drives:

• Easy to lose

• Encryption problems

• Need to be careful when removing a memory stick from a computer

• Superseded by newer technologies

Two use of thumbdrives/pen drives:

• Transporting files between computers

• Used only for burn high definition movies

• Used for audio/music only

• Security device to prevent software piracy (dongle)
