AVID Syllabus

The eleventh grade AVID elective focuses on:

• Study and Organizational Skills

• Writing and Critical Thinking

• Speaking and listening

• Community service and outreach

What are some supplies you need for this class (select all that apply)?

• 5 ring binder with dividers

• Supply bag

• Highlighters, pencils, and pens

• Spiral notebook for 3 column notes

What classes do you need to take?

• 3 Pre-AP Classes and 1 AP Class

• 2 AP Classes

• 1 Class at Grapevine

• 2 Pre-AP classes or 1 AP Class

When are my tutorials?

• Every day, before and after school

• A-Days after school

• Monday and Wednesday, before school

• I don't have tutorials

What is the absent procedure (select all that apply)?

• Wait for Mr. Greaves to tell you what you missed

• Turn in TRFs, notes, etc. the day you return, as applicable

• Access the class calendar in Google Classroom to see what you missed

• Find missed assignments either on Google Classroom or in the purple bin

What is the late work policy?

• No late work will ever be accepted

• Turn your late work in whenever. It doesn't matter!

• For each day an assignment that is late, 10 points will be deducted from your grade

• You will lose 1 point for each day an assignment is late.

What is NOT a characteristics of a "college bound student"?

• Has a growth mindset and attends class regularly

• Is determined to reach their goals.

• Takes notes and reviews them daily

• Checks Skyward at the end of the year, and doesn't ask for help

• Uses an organizational system and turns in quality work on time
