Class rules and expectations

How should we answer questions in class?

• Stand up and wave your arms about until the teacher notices you.

• Jump up and down excitedly on our chair until you shout the answer out.

• Put our hands up and wait patiently for the teacher to ask you to speak.

• Shout the answer out.

How should we sit on our chairs?

• With 1 leg on the ground like a flamingo.

• With 2 legs on the ground and falling backwards.

• With 3 legs on the ground and falling backwards.

• With 4 legs on the ground.

How do we move in corridors?

• Run as fast as you can and push people out of the way!

• Slide down the banister screaming at the top of your voice!

• Walk sensibly on the right hand side.

• Walk sensibly on the left hand side.

How do we want our classroom to look?

• Messy tables.

• Tidy tables, pens/pencils tidied away, water bottles in boxes, chairs tucked in.

• Water bottles all over the worktops and not in their boxes.

• Pencils and bits of paper all over the floor.

What attitude should we have towards our work?

• A negative one - I can't do it.

• A lazy one - I'll make a tiny effort and no more.

• An angry one - if I get something wrong I'll throw something.

• A positive attitude. I can try to do it; I will give 100% effort; if I make a mistake then I'll learn from it; I will never give up.

What should I do when the teacher is talking?

• Talk to my neighbour - I have something really important to tell them.

• Play with my hair - it looks so much better if I twiddle it round and round.

• Look out the window and imagine what it must be like to fly like a bird!

• Show my respect - turn my chair to face the teacher and listen quietly and carefully.

How should I treat others?

• With respect - show good manners, say sorry, be polite and kind to others.

• By being mean and nasty.

• By saying 'no' if someone asks to play.

• By laughing at someone if they can't do something.

How should I ask questions in class?

• Always put my hand up and stay in my chair. My teacher will come to me eventually.

• Walk to my teacher and wait beside her until she notices me.

• Walk to my teacher and interrupt her.

• Shout the question out.
