Montresor doesnt want other people to know that he would be the last one to see Fortunato before he disappares. Which Fortunato will be dead and people probably will not find him.

Poe says in line 10, "I continued, as was my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation" (death or destruction). In your own words, explain what Montresor is doing versus what he is thinking.
Montresor is smiling thinking of Fortunato's death but, Fortunato thinks he is just smiling to be friendly.
Fortunate had not yet recognized that he was the sacrifice.
Montresor is thinking about killing Fortunato because Montresor thinks Fortunato is making fun of him and is being mean and doesn't know he is just messing around, meanwhile Fortunato is messing around and he thinks Montresor knows he is messsing around because he always smiles at him.
Montresor is continuing to act normal around Fortunato, so Fortunato does not think there is any hate or bad blood between the two. He even smiles at Fortunato, but Fortunato does not realize that Montresor is smiling at the thought of his death.

Reread lines 72-92. What is ironic about this conversation?
The thing that is ironic about the conversation is that towards the end he tells him to have a draft of Medoc.
A suspicious irony. My prediction of what might happen to Fortunato is that he might die from the cough he has. Then Montresor will finish him off.
Fortunato says that the mold that is making him cough will not kill him to which the narrator responds true--true this is foreshadowing the narrator killing Fortunato.
Fortunato says that the mold will not kill him. Montresor says "true--true". The reader and Montresor know that Fortunato will be murdered by Montresor, but Fortunato has no idea. Therefore, this scene is ironic.
