What does light allow you to do?

• see, grow plants, get energy, and warm the Earth

• swim, drink water, grow lily pads

• power wind mills, power nuclear reactors

• answer teachers, do homework

Why can't you touch light?

• It is too far up in the sky.

• It is under water.

• It is not physical. You can only see the effects of it.

• You are only able to touch it in a rainbow.

What is light?

• waves that enter the eyes

• Waves that hit an object, bounce off of it, and enter eyes.

• pretty colors in the air

• particles of energy that enter the eyes

What part of your body tells you what you are seeing?

• eyes and ears

• eyes and brain

• eyes and spinal column

• brain and nose

What objects in your classroom make light energy?

• stove

• sink

• electric lights

• pencil sharpener

Doors do not make light. Why can you see them?

• We see them when we open our eyes

• We see them when we close our eyes

• we see them because they are big

• we see them when rays from a light source shine on them.

What happens to light when it shines on eyeglasses?

• All light is reflected off the glasses

• Most light passes thru glasses b/c they are transparent

• Light is refracted

• The light bounces off the glass

What happens to light when it shines on a thin curtain?

• All light is reflected

What happens to light when it shines on a brick wall?

• All light passes through the brick

• . No light passes through it, light bounces off the object.

Why does white sand look bright?

• is doesn't reflect any light

• it reflects only white light

• it is reflecting all the colors of light
