Sheila Quiz

Sheila at the start of the play is described as 'a pretty girl in her early twenties, very pleased with life and rather excited.' This reveals that she is:

• just having a wonderful time at her party

• a representative of the young and carefree young women in the 1912 society

• representative of the privileged and relatively carefree young girls of the era. A bit naive and immature, especially considering she has doubts over her future husband's faithfulness.

• a representation of the older generation of women, who believed that women should just accept their position, without challenging men over their whereabouts or business

Sheila does however stand up to her future husband stating:

However it is quickly revealed that she is materialistic and cares more about beautiful expensive things than her relationship when Gerald produces:

She gets Eva fired from a position at:

Eva holds a dress up to her and Sheila gets furious why?

Sheila also doesn't like the way that Eva reacts Sheila tries the dress on because she:

Sheila admits she wouldn't have done it if she had been some:

• miserable ugly little girl

Sheila demonstrates an understanding of the Inspector's power as she says he somehow:

She shows maturity after Gerald's confession because:
