Dinosaurs existed about 250 million years ago to 65 million years ago. This era is broken up into three periods known as the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The Triassic Period lasted for 35 million years from 250-205 million years ago. Planet Earth was a very different place back then. All the continents were united to form one huge land mass known as Pangaea. The Jurassic Period was the second phase. The continents began shifting apart. The time scale for this famous period is from 205 to 138 million years ago. The Cretaceous Period was the last period of the dinosaurs. It spanned a time from 138 million to about 65 million years ago. In this period the continents fully separated. However, Australia and Antarctica were still united.

Most people have had red pizza, or pizza covered with red sauce, but have you ever had white pizza? White pizza is made in almost the same way as red pizza: the dough rises and is rolled out, toppings are applied, and it is cooked in an oven—but the key difference is that white pizza does not have any tomato sauce on it. Instead, a white pizza may have olive oil or no sauce at all. I like white pizza more than red pizza because you can really taste the ingredients. Adding some fresh tomatoes to a white pizza will give it that tomato flavor without the completely overwhelming taste of the red sauce that covers most pizzas. Until recently, the six-foot-long jumbo squid was rarely seen north of California. Why, then, have they expanded their range as far north as Alaska? It turns out the weather is to blame. Warmer ocean temperatures led to lower levels of nutrients in the waters where the squid usually hunt. That resulted in lower numbers of the squid's prey, such as fish and crabs. Due to the lack of food, many of the squid are swimming north in search of cooler waters and more food.

It takes a long time and a lot of hard work to become a veterinarian. You'll want to start by finishing high school and going on to college. During college, you might study biology, chemistry, or animal science. Then, after four years of college, you'll attend four years of veterinary school. There you will learn more about medicine and animals and how to care for them. After finishing veterinary school, you will need to pass a test called a licensing exam. Then, at last, you can work as a veterinarian.

The Oregon sunstone, also known as heliolite, is actually a feldspar crystal that appears to shimmer with metallic color when viewed in just the right light. Sunstones come in a wide range of colors, depending on the amount of copper in them. The darker the stone, the more copper it contains. Some are almost clear. Others may be tan, light yellow, or pale pink. Sunstones that are deep red, blue or green in color are the rarest and most valuable.

Mayors and governors are both elected to lead their communities. A mayor is in charge of running a city or town. A governor, on the other hand, is the head of an entire state's government. There are more mayors than governors. There are fifty governors, one for each state. However, there are thousands of towns and thousands of mayors in the United States. As a rule, a governor has more power than a mayor.

Community leaders in one city neighborhood were becoming concerned about the higher levels of obesity and weight-related health problems in their neighborhoods. One of the likely causes was not having access to affordable ways to exercise and the other was that there were very few grocery stores selling fresh fruits, produce, meats, and other healthy food options. A task force came up with several solutions for ways for residents to exercise. The local hospital agreed to open its physical therapy facilities in the evenings for a small fee so that local families could use it as a low-cost health club. Area schools began allowing community-sponsored teams to use their gymnasiums, tracks, and ball fields when they weren’t being used for school events. Finally, the Mayor and City Council agreed to fund a bike path through the neighborhood.

Many people think that they can get sick by going into cold weather improperly dressed; however, illnesses are not caused by temperature- they are caused by germs. So while shivering outside in the cold probably won’t strengthen your immune system, you’re more likely to contract an illness indoors because you will have a greater exposure to germs.

The Loggerhead is a relatively easy turtle to identify. To begin with, the Loggerhead has a reddish-brown upper shell and a dull brown to yellowish lower shell. The shells consist of an upper part, known as the carapace, and a lower section, called the plastron. Hard scales (or scutes) cover the shells, and the number and arrangement of these scutes are used to determine the species. The adult Loggerhead weights from 200 to 350 pounds and lives in temperate and subtropical waters. Another important fact about this turtle is it is the most common sea turtle that nests on the shores of the United States. In addition to eating small fish, the Loggerhead sea turtle feasts on shellfish, clams, horseshoe crabs, and mussels.

Students often complain that they “do not like school.” What can parents do? Research suggests that students who are more involved with their peers like school a lot. Parents can encourage children to join a club, such as Student Council or Art Club. Athletics are also an option. Parents can tell children that they will support them through the year with rides to practice and attending games. If children think that joining an athletic team is a positive thing, they are more likely to try out. Sometimes getting students to like school is just a few suggestions away.
