I heard a tap on the door. I wasn’t expecting a caller, so I peered through the peephole. The porch was empty. I flipped on the exterior light and the darkness faded, but still I could see no one. I was starting to feel frightened, but then I noticed the door knocker. It had come undone and was hitting on the door as the wind blew.
