What is a monotype print?

• A print that makes an unlimited number of copies.

• A print that makes 1 (but maybe 2-3) copies.

What is a linocut print?

• where you draw on a plate with ink and then print that ink onto a piece of paper for 1-3 prints

What is a collagraph print

• where you draw a design on a smooth surface with ink and then transfer that ink to a piece of paper for 1-3 prints

Which is true about gelli plates?

• They are very heavy

How much ink do you get?

• You need a whole lot of ink because you want to make a lot of prints

• You need only a tiny amount of ink.

• Start with a little, then add a little more at a time.

• Let Mrs. Recco scoop out the ink -- she knows the exact amount you need for your plate.

What do you do with your prints after you make them?

• Write your name on it and put it in the drying rack.

• Pile them up at the printing station until you have all your prints done.

• Put them in your class shelf.

• Put them on Mrs. Recco's desk.

What kind of clothes should you wear while printmaking?

• Your brand new, $200 Supreme Tee shirt, because you fly.

• Your best clothes, because you want to look your best.

• A full hazmat suit.

• Old clothes, because printing inks stain!

Who cleans up the printmaking mess?

• Everyone in the classroom is responsible for cleaning up the entire room.

• Look on the board for your table's job. Do that job only.

• Do your assigned job, then help with any leftover mess.

• Mrs. Recco cleans up everything.

When do you clean up spilled ink?

• Right away -- it's easy to get it all over the room if there's just a little on a surface.

• Leave it til the end of class.

• Walk away, someone else will clean it up.

• Don't clean it up. It will dry eventually.

What happens if we follow all the agreements during printmaking?

• We will get to use printmaking supplies for a while.

• We will earn trust and Mrs. Recco will let us use more of the really good art supplies and have more free choice.

• We will have printmaking supplies for a long time and may get to use them again this year.
