On the STAAR test, which of these can you do after you finish?

• Read to SELF

• Talk to a peer

• Clean the classroom

What should you do the NIGHT BEFORE STAAR?

• Stay up all night studying

• Go to bed early

• Eat a healthy dinner

• Go see Shazam! in theaters

Which of these should you do THE MORNING of STAAR?

• Eat a healthy, good- sized breakfast

• Wake up on time

• Make sure to stop by Starbucks and get a venti frappuchino

• Put your favorite ringtone on your phone, so when it rings, everyone will know your phone is coolest.

When you get to class the morning of STAAR, you can expect...

• Posters/ Anchor charts to be covered up or taken down.

• More people in our hall than usual

• That you'll need to be quieter than normal.

• To bring candy as a snack

• To go to specials like normal

What supplies do you need for STAAR?

• 2 Sharp #2 Pencils

• A jacket (in case you get cold)

• A healthy snack & water

• 2 Books to read

• A Pillow and Blanket

What is the 3 Read Strategy?

• You read the passage really fast 3 times and answer questions.

• You skim the passage, then read and jot notes. The third read is where you read Q & As and go back to re-read the passage for the answer.

• Read each paragraph 3 times.

• Read the question 3 times then answer it.

What do you do if you're stuck on a question?

• Try to find the correct answer (give yourself time), and if you still can't figure it out, skip it and come back at the end.

• Give up & Guess.

• Keep working until you find the answer.

• Skip and forget to go back to it.

What do you do if you think 2 answers look right?

• If it is a math question, try to solve the problem again - check for any errors you may have made.

• If it is a reading test, remember - GOLDILOCKS - not too much, not too little

• Do "eeny meeny meiny mo" until you find the correct answer
