Hot Water - System Choice

The choice of Hot Water system depends on which of the following points -

• The number of hot water outlets

• Running cost and fuel efficiency

• The number of cold water outlets

• Number of occupants

Centralised Hot Water Systems are where-

• It has to be installed in the middle of the house.

• Hot water is delivered from a central point to all outlets.

• Must be contained in a cylinder.

What does a direct cylinder not have ?

• Hot Water Thermostat

• Coil

• Drain off

The Hot Water Draw Off Pipe Must -

• incorporate 450mm of horizontal pipe

• service valve

• rise slowly

• connect to the open vent

• connect to the side of the cylinder

If the CWSC is 5m above the Hot Water Cylinder the pressure of the hot water will be -

• 5 bar

• 1 bar

• 0.1 bar

• 0.5 bar

If you had low pressure and flow rate how could you increase the Hot Water output -

• install a direct system

• install an instantaneous system

• install a storage system

Why have an open vent on a Hot Water system -

• so water can be drawn off from this pipe

• feeds the CWSC

• allows for the expansion of water

The open vent must be a minimum of -

• 15 mm

• 22 mm

• 28 mm

• Doesn't matter

At what temperature can we control a solid fuel Direct Cylinder -

• 60 - 65

• 50 - 55

• Doesn't matter

• There is no real way of controlling the temperature
