When cutting a pattern, the notch is:

• A straight line with arrows on the end of it

• The guide for the straight of the grain

• The guide for cutting out the right size

• A small diamond shaped marking you cut around

The fold line, (or place-on-fold line), on a pattern is:

• A straight line with arrows on each end of it

• The guide for cutting out the right size

• A solid, double ended arrow that is bent on both ends

• A small diamond shaped marking you cut around

Ease is:

• Added to commercials pattern for style and fit

• The short fibers that create texture on fabrics

• Increasing/decreasing the size of the pattern

• Not that important in sewing

When pre-washing fabric, you should:

• Always use hot water

• Launder it the same way it will be washed or dried when the project is completed

• Always dry clean the materials

• Always use cold water and avoid machine drying the material

The straight of grain runs
