What are the types of reading that we saw in class?

• skimming, scanning, intensive and extensive

• monitoring, visualising, questioning

• fluency, vocabulary, comprehension

• Reading to find specific information.

• Reading a text quickly to get a general or main idea of meaning.

• Reading in detail with specific learning aims and tasks.

What is scanning?

• Involves learners reading texts for enjoyment.

• Reading a text quickly to get the main idea.

• Reading in order to find specific information.

What is intensive reading?

• Reading to get a clear general idea of what the text is about.

• Occurs when the learner is focused on the language rather than the text. For example, the learner may be answering comprehension questions,learning new vocabulary, studying the grammar, etc.
