Team Planning! Yay!

Grimsley wants me to plan with my team to

• make my life miserable and add more work to my already overflowing plate

• make me do things redundantly or waste my time

• document when I don't so she can fire me

• to collaborate, share ideas, talk through strategies, align, become better teachers which in turn helps our kids and our school

• Wait, what plans? Grimsley wants me to plan, when did she say that?

I write lesson plans

• so I don't get fired

• because that's what teachers do

• because Grimsley said so and she's scary

• to stay aligned to the scope and sequence, standards, what I'm supposed to teach my students, and to have a plan because FAILURE TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

I trust EVERY SINGLE ONE of my child(ren)'s teachers implicitly and, if they don't write lesson plans, that is fine with me. I mean, we're professionals, we should know what we're doing, right?

I'm such a good, experienced teacher that I don't really need to plan. I've been doing this for 100 years. And actually, if Grimsley and Dickson just showed up next year and let all of us figure everything out, this school would run just fine! Planning, schmanning.

My biggest problem with team planning is

• I don't feel it's necessary or productive.

• Ain't nobody got time for team planning.

• Everyone doesn't contribute.

• There is no leader and I dang sure don't want to do it.

• I don't like people and would rather live on an island.
