Invisible Math

There is a denominator of one for every number.

• 3 = 1/3

• 3 = 3/1

• 3 = 3

There is a decimal point at the end of every whole number.

• 10000

• 10.0

• .9999

There is a positive sign to the left of every number unless there is already a negative sign.

• -6

• 6 = +6

• -6 = +6

There is a coeffecient of one to the left of every variable unless there is a different number.

• x = 2x

• 3x = x

• x = 1x

There is a multiplication sign between every coefficient and variable.

• 2y = 2/y

• 2y = 2 x y

• 2y = 2 + y

A negative sign to the left of a variable is the same as negative one times the variable.

• 7 = 7^2

• 7 = 7^0

• 7 = 7^1

Any nonzero number has an exponent of one.

• 125^0 = 125

• 125^0 = 1

• 125^0 = 0

Every radical has an index of two unless there is already a different index.

• $\sqrt{8\ }$ = $2\sqrt{8}$

• $\sqrt{8}$ = $3\sqrt{8}$

• $\sqrt{8}$ = $1\sqrt{8}$

One over a variable is the same as the variable to the negative first power.

• $\frac{1}{x}=x^{-1}$

• $\frac{x}{1}=x^1$

• $\frac{1}{x}=x^3$

A negative number outside an absolute value symbol is the same as negative one times the absolute value.

• $-\left|x\right|=-1\times\left|x\right|$

• $-x=x^{-1}$

• $\sqrt{x}=x^1$
