Division of labor means:

Span of control is:

• each work unit had to be supervised and coordinated with other units,

• each work unit had to be formed of position grouped

Machine Model only emphasized formal or bureaucratic organization which concerned on:

• division of labor, allocation of power, specifications for each position

• individual idiosyncrasies and the social dynamics of people at work.
