ELPAC Mentorship

Why do you have an EL Mentor?

• because its cool to have one

• because I need help reclassifying as a fluent English Speaker

• because I need to read four times a week

• because I need help in science

The EPLAC tests:

• Math, Science, Social Studies and Spelling

• Grammer, Punctuation, Spelling and Capitalization

• Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking

• Looking, Eating,Sitting, and Drawing

One of the goals we discussed was to:

• Read 30 minutes, 4 days a week

• Participate more in classroom discussions

• Write 5-6 sentence summaries, including an NVF

• Take notes as I read

In order for me to pass the ELPAC, I must

• Score 4 on all domains

• Score 4 on the speaking domain only

• score a 4 on the writing domain only

• score 4 the SBAC

To reclassify, my grades need to be at least

• 70% or above

• all 4s

• better than last year

• a 1 in ELA and a 2 in Writing

If I don't reclassify,

• I won't be an RFEP

• I will take it until I pass

• I won't have fun classes in middle school

• I will have ELD forever

When will you take the ELPAC?

• February 2019

• October 2020

• February 2020

• October 2019

The criteria to reclassify is:

• Average score of 4 on the ELPAC

• 70% passing grades

• Teacher and Parent recommendation

• At least a 2 on the SBAC

Why is it important to set goals?

• so the boat knows where its going

• so I have clear vision at night

• to beat the other team

• to know what I am working towards
